Calendar for December 2, 2009

-The annual Fort Payne Kiwanis Club chili supper will be Dec. 1 from 4-7 at Fort Payne High School cafeteria. Tickets are $5.

-The DeKalb County Master Gardeners will meet Dec. 3 at 9:30 a.m. with wreath making and a luncheon at 11 a.m. Call 996-9735.

-The Collinsville Christmas parade will be Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. The grand marshals will be Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Dobbins.

-A bingo and soup supper will be Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at the Hillbilly Saddle Club in Fyffe. All you can eat for $5. Call 623-3276.

-A winter fairy houses and hobbit hike will be Dec. 5 from noon until 3 p.m. at the JSU Little River Canyon Center. $10 per person and pre-registration is required. Call 782-5697.

-The DeKalb Republican Breakfast Club will meet Dec. 5 at 7:30 a.m. at Western Sizzlin. The guest speaker will be Tim Howe with guberinatorial candiate Bradley Byrne’s campaign.

-The 50th annual Rainsville Christmas Parade will be Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. Lineup starts at noon. The Rainsville Civitan Club will give out free hot chocolate and coffee before, during and after the parade at the Tom Bevill Enrichment Center.

-Christmas at the Opera House will be Dec. 6 at 2 p.m., featuring Carl “Critter” Orland, Lon Eldridge, Harold Dean Mitchell, Matthew Croxton, Judy Anderton and the Fort Payne First United Methodist Church choir.

-Friends of the Library will meet Dec. 7 at 3:30 p.m. at the DeKalb County Public Library. call 845-2671.

-A special reading of “The Polar Express” by Jeremy Dupree will be Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at the little red caboose at the Fort Payne Depot Museum for children ages 5-8.
