Today, we will be examining how Jesus is our sanctification as he is described in 1 Corinthians 1:30

“But unto him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us… sanctification…”

God is looking for a people to call his own. He will be their God and they will be his children through faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ that he completed on the cross of Calvary.

Once we truly believe and humble ourselves under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, God sets us apart from the world (social, educational, political, religious, financial, fashion and all similar systems). This setting apart — consecration — is the first step into the kingdom of God.

We no longer are a part of the world, even though we still have to live in the world. We have been separated unto God through Jesus Christ. Our lives are dedicated unto serving the Living God and serving others in the name of Jesus — we give God glory by living and serving the Lord (1 Corinthians 1:31).

How should we serve the one and only true and holy God? There is only one way to serve…in holiness.

The word sanctification has another facet or meaning and that is holiness. What does holy mean when applying to the nature of God? It means that God is pure and perfect, without spot or blemish, faithful and true in everything he has done and is doing.

No legitimate charge can be brought against his holiness. So, what does holy mean when applied to God’s people? It means our actions and motives are as pure and perfect, without spot or blemish, faithful and true as God’s actions and motives. This is impossible on our own, but God has given his spirit to his children.

The Holy Spirit will lead and guide us in the way that we should go. He will help us to do the things that give glory to God.

He will teach us how to live a holy and pleasing life before God.

Jesus Christ is our sanctification, in that, he lived the perfect and pleasing life that we could not live.

He was crucified to bring us the way of salvation and forgiveness of sins.

He lives forevermore to be our example of holiness.

With the spirit’s help we can live a holy life...just like Jesus.
