Educate yourself Homeowners should be familiar with gun laws

Since the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., Americans across the nation are taking up the notion to arm themselves.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said typically the sale of pistol permits increases after the first of the year due to renewals, but since Dec. 14, when 26 were killed at Sandy Hook, 871 permits were sold, with 237 sold to females.
