Jordan reflects on years of service

Mayor adresses Rotary Club

Posted: Tuesday, September 4, 2012 4:56 pm

Mayor Bill Jordan lost his bid for a fourth term, but he insisted a week after the close election that he isn’t bitter.

“There’s three little things that I’d like to mention today,” Jordan told members of the Fort Payne Rotary Club in a speech Tuesday.

Who cares if he is mad. He failed as mayor and the better man won. It should have happened four years ago when Stout ran against him. Jordan never did any great things for the City of Fort Payne except put a lot of people out of work and put money in his pocket.

Never liked Jordan not since a family member bought some land on the side of Lookout Mtn then had it clear cut. Jordan went through the roof, tried to bring charges, and many more things unbecoming to a mayor. Even though everything the family member did was by the books and in full compliance with regulations Jordan still called the Forestry Department to log a complaint. The Department came and met with the family member and Jordan at the property and Jordan hit the roof when said Forestry Official told him that he didn't see a problem and everything was done according to regulations. Jordan did everything he could to try and fine my family member even though all rules and regulations were strictly adhered to which is someone trying to abuse their power. I say good riddance to bad rubbish and hope that someone does to Jordan what he has done and tried to do to others.

So Mayor Jordan is Mayor till November 5, 2012 but he is now going to be campaigning for Judge Rains. And even if Judge Rains wins tragedy will truly strike in six years when both Judges Rains and Cole will be gone due to the age limit. Then we will have no experienced judges. Remember Judge Taylor is a resident of Cherokee County so he can be their Judge.

ABBRA-CADABRA -- ZaaZaam!!!! The TJ does it again! Where is the rest of the article? Once again, The TJ has already edited its online article (in less than 2 hours). Guess you guys got "The Call".... again. Come on, PUT THE FULL ARTICLE back up and let the people decide for themselves about what was said and printed (now deleted) in the paper.

Responsible journalism is hard. Just play fair Mr. Editor.

Several times the Times-Journal has been ask to report on our County Elections and they said they would BUT when? The paper has access to the financial reports that the regular citizens dont. They have a duty to the people, to responsibly report on all candidates. It just feels like they want to pick and choose. Let's see who's raising money and from who they get all that "free money" and where they spend it. Why do the Fort Payne Ruling Class always seem to get a "leg up" on the rest of us?

Jordan's remarks are a good example of the Fort Payne Ruling Class and some of the other "powers to be"... "We will either RULE you or RUIN you". What a real tragedy.

Sounds like Jordan is still mad. Why else would he still be trying to re-run the election. Chesser won, move on.

He said " It would be a Tragedy if Davids Rains is not re-elected". Jordan can support who ever he wants BUT to take such a "cheap-shot" in a county wide election days after he lost sounds like sour grapes and (let's just admit it) the Fort Payne Ruling Class whinning. Everyone knows Jordan and Rains are Fort Payne elitist. The people should get to finally have their vote count for something other than "which one of the Fort Payne 'good ole boys' are we gonna have to support".
