Mentone Springs Hotel played big role in history of DeKalb tourism

The history of tourism in DeKalb County for all practical purposes begins with the Mentone Springs Hotel.

Yes, during the Civil War and before, there were people passing though our area and visiting our natural beauty at May’s Gulf (Little River Canyon), DeSoto Falls, caves and other word-of-mouth locations scattered around DeKalb County.
