Posted: Monday, June 24, 2013 6:53 pm | Updated: 10:51 am, Tue Jun 25, 2013.

Pierce Jones was considering playing football for Birmingham-Southern or a college in Iowa until legendary Southern Union baseball coach Joe “Jabo” Jordan entered the picture.

“Coach Jordan came and talked to me halfway through the season,” said Jones, a member of the Crossville High School Class of 2013. “I had not heard from him before then. He came out of nowhere and asked me if I wanted to play baseball.”
