Published September 25, 2009
An Ider man was charged in Cherokee County with violation of sex offender community registration laws.
Michael Rece Hall was arrested Thursday afternoon at the Leesburg Lodge in Leesburg, after Cherokee officers got a tip Hall might be staying there.
According to DeKalb sheriff’s records, Hall – a convicted sex offender – formerly lived at 197 County Road 789 in Ider, but left there about a month ago without informing DeKalb authorities as required by law.
Those records show Hall was charged in 2005 with the second-degree rape of a 15-year-old girl in Trenton, Ga. He registered in DeKalb County in Apirl 2008.
Hall was taken into custody without incident and initially charged with failure to register as a sex offender in Cherokee County. Warrants have also been issued in DeKalb County for Hall’s arrest on a charge of violating the community notification act.
