Tennis roundup: Plainview teams sweep

Plainview took five of six singles matches and defeated DAR 7-2 in Class 4A, Section 5 boys’ high school tennis Thursday at Northeast Alabama Community College.

Eduardo DeSouza (8-2 at No. 1), Taylor Horton (8-1 at No. 2), Cole Wagner (8-2 at No. 4), Jordan Dover (8-4 at No. 5) and Nathan Pierson (8-2 at No. 6) earned singles wins for Plainview.

DeSouza and Horton took the No. 1 doubles match 8-5, and Jacob Malone and Wagner prevailed 8-2 at No. 2.

GIRLS: The Lady Bears downed DAR 8-1.

Alex Poole (8-4 at No. 1), Katie McCreless (8-4 at No. 2), Madison Johnson (8-6 at No. 3), Taylor Pack (8-1 at No. 4) and Cassidy Hood (8-4 at No. 6) won in singles play for the Lady Bears.

Poole and McCreless won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Johnson and Pack took the No. 2 match 8-4, and Casey Miller and Hood prevailed 8-5 at No. 3.

FORT PAYNE: The match between Fort Payne’s girls and Arab was postponed and will be made up April 14.
