Horton eliminated in round six

Published November 3, 2009

Rainsville’s Ryan Horton reached the sixth round before being eliminated at the RE/Max World Long Drive Championship in Mesquite, Nev., last week.

Horton, who competed in the Open Division, had a drive of 370 yards in round one, good enough for third place. The top three in his six-person group advanced.

Horton finished sixth in a group of six in the second round with a drive of 355 yards. That showing dropped him into the round-four elimination bracket.

He rebounded with a drive of 377, good for second out of six, and advanced to round six, where he was sixth of eight with drive of 336. Only the top two advanced.
