BREAKING NEWS: AHSAA relcassification set

The Alabama High School Athletic Association released its reclassification for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years Wednesday, and three area schools will be moving up or down.
The landscape remain unchanged for Class 5A Fort Payne, which will continue to share a football region with Arab, Albertville, Boaz, Etowah, Madison County, Scottsboro and Southside. The Cats will compete with Arab, Scottsboro and Madison County in area basketball.
Crossville will jump from Class 3A to 4A. The Lions will be in a region with Butler, Cherokee County, DAR, Douglas, Fairview, Guntersville and North Jackson for football. The Lions will be in an area with DAR, Guntersville and North Jackson for basketball.
Plainview fell from 4A to 3A, and Geraldine jumped from 2A to 3A. They will be part of a nine-team football region along with Brindlee Mountain, Madison Academy, New Hope, Pisgah, Randolph, Sardis and Sylvania.
The teams in that region will play only two non-region games a year compared to three for teams in an eight-team region.
Geraldine, Pisgah, Plainview, Sardis and Sylvania will also be in the same basketball area.
Fyffe and Ider both remained in 2A, while Collinsville and Valley Head will continue to compete in 1A.
