NACC’s Music on Mountain Bluegrass Festival
Published October 16, 2009
The Northeast corner of Alabama is blessed with a rich tradition of music. This tradition will be highlighted at the upcoming Second Annual Music on the Mountain Bluegrass Festival which will include, in addition to Marty Raybon – featured headline performer — some popular talents Saturday at Northeast Alabama Community College in Rainsville.
Valley Road is one such talent. This group features Johnny Goss on guitar and Luke Ford on banjo. Ken “Legg” Ford is on bass. Phillip Tigue, on mandolin, is the newest member of the band.
The Eric McKinney Band from Fort Payne will also perform. McKinney is a bluegrass guitarist who has recently released his debut album “Guitar Shop” and has a unique style of guitar playing.
Performing also is Backwoods Revival, which began with a few friends and two brothers who decided to get together and jam.
On the upright bass and singing harmony is Stanley Rooks, of Geraldine. The band also features Tim Smallwood on resonator guitar, Jeremiah Johnson on mandolin, Phillip Dooley on guitar and Judd Rooks on the banjo.
Kelli Johnson and Chimney Peak will perform. Johnson is a native of Calhoun County, and has been singing since the age of 4. She has performed in various festivals and venues in the southeast for over 10 years. She has recently completed her first full length solo album. She is currently performing with Chimney Peak.
Chimney Peak consists of Rick Goodwin, lead guitar and vocals; Keith LaBenne, bass and vocals; Lloyd Andrews, dobro; and Kelli Johnson, lead vocals and rhythm guitar.
All of these bands join with the featured headline performer, Marty Raybon.
