Fort Payne swimmers beaten
Published July 3, 2009
The Fort Payne swim team saw its record fall to 1-3 on Tuesday, the result of a 444-221 loss to Guntersville in an Alabama Recreation and Parks Association District 2 Meet at the city pool.
McKenzi Brown (13-14 girls), Anna Rae Gwarjanski (15-18 girls) and Chad Mendiola (13-14 boys) led Fort Payne, winning three races apiece.
Swimmer earned five points for a win, three for second and two for third.
Charlene Mendiola (15-18 girls) and John Parcelewicz (8-under boys) won two races apiece for Fort Payne.
Relays have been a problem for the Aquacats this season, and that was the case again against Guntersville. Fort Payne won only six of the 20 races, which are worth seven points apiece.
Fort Payne will close out its regular season with a meet at Scottsboro on Tuesday afternoon at 5:30.
