Excitement building for Twilight: New Moon
Published November 13, 2009
“Twilight: New Moon” is already generating buzz as fans anxiously await the new movie opening Friday.
Beginning Sunday at 1:30 p.m., fans of the Twilight series can pick up tickets for a special midnight showing of the film.
Fort Payne Cinemas owner Beckie Johnson said she expects a sellout crowd for the second movie in the series.
“I expect it to sell pretty quick,” Johnson said. “I’ve had people emailing and calling for months wanting to purchase tickets for ‘New Moon.’”
“Twilight” is a love story between Edward, a vampire, and Bella, the new girl in town. The story revolves around the two in a mysterious, dramatic and action-packed film as well as well as a series of books.
For girls, many say it’s the perfect romance and for guys it’s all about the action.
Fort Payne High School student Ethan Barnes said he enjoys the series and will be buying his ticket for the midnight showing.
“I really enjoy the fantasy genre and all of the action scenes,” Barnes said. “It’s a great story.”
Fort Payne High School student Jessi Chambliss hopes the movie is as good as the book.
“This one will be intense because Edward leaves Bella and she goes to find him because she wants to save him,” Chambliss said. “There’s a lot of drama because after Edward leaves, Bella becomes friends with Jacob, who is a werewolf, and Edward and Jacob don’t like each other.”
Chambliss said a movie is expected for the last two books in the series: “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn”.
“I hope Stephenie Meyer decides to do more in the series,” Chambliss.
All seats for the midnight showing are $6.50.
In an extra treat, Fort Payne Cinemas will show the original “Twilight” at 9:15 p.m. on Thursday before the midnight opening of “New Moon”.
“Tickets for the first “Twilight” can be purchased for a reduced rate of $4.50,” Johnson said.
