Crossville downs Douglas in shootout

Fans expecting to see a shootout between Crossville and Douglas on Friday night didn’t go home disappointed.
But chances are they never dreamed they would watch the teams combine for 121 points, 61 first downs and 1,105 yards total offense.
When the shootout finally ended more than three hours after it began, Crossville emerged with a 67-54 win.
Crossville (3-7) roared to a 21-0 lead, scoring their first TD just 36 seconds into the game.
The Lions led 41-16 at halftime and extended its advantage to 61-32 with 5:37 left in the game.
The Eagles (4-6) scored three touchdowns in the final 5:22 of the game, including a 78-yard kickoff return by Jonathon Tapp, to trim Crossville’s final margin to 13 points.
Crossville gained 36 first downs, 296 yards rushing and 308 yards passing. The Lions finished with 604 yards.
Senior quarterback Nick Davis threw for a career-high 308 yards, completing 22-of-31 passes and touchdowns of 2 yards to Ty Harbour, 47 yards to Chris Knight and 4 yards to Johnnie Osborn.
John Williamson caught seven passes for 100 yards while Knight had six catches for 100 yards.
Crossville’s Colton Mayes rushed 15 times for 146 yards and four touchdowns on runs of 13, 1, 1 and 37 yards.
Osborn gained 102 yards on 13 carries and scored on runs of 1 and 34 yards.
Backup quarterback Zac Gardner scored on a 4-yard run for Crossville.
