Groups Carry On Craig’s Legacy
Published November 17, 2009
Brant Craig’s love of DeKalb County was well known. His tireless promotion of his home community was inspirational. Recently we saw that inspiration take hold first-hand.
Craig, a DeKalb County commissioner who recently passed away, was a tremendous supporter of both Tigers for Tomorrow and the Big Oak Ranch. Using Craig’s deep love for both institutions as the foundation, Tigers for Tomorrow welcomed around 140 children and residents of the Big Oak Ranch on Sunday. The guests also included Craig’s widow, Susan.
“I know Brant would be so honored with what they are doing,” Susan Craig said. “This is two of his loves. He loved the Big Oak Ranch and was so interested in what was going on at Tigers for Tomorrow.”
A special thank you goes out to Sue Steffens, co-owner of the exotic animal preserve in Collinsville. She befriended Craig when she relocated to the area from Florida. Like so many others, Craig obviously touched her heart.
And, Craig touched so many of us. Our heart is lifted by the efforts of Steffens and so many others who have picked up the torch left by Craig and are determined to carry his legacy forward.
