Roadwork ahead in Rainsville
Published September 10, 2009
Starting next week, those traveling through Rainsville may experience delays.
Councilman Bejan Taheri said workers will begin to resurface sections of Highway 75 and Highway 35 at the main intersection in Rainsville on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
“I’m not sure which day it will be, but it will be one of those days,” Taheri said.
Jackson Paving will resurface 3,310 feet of Highway 75 and 2,588 feet of Highway 35 for just more than $1 million and for a total of just more than a mile.
“They are going to be milling 4 inches of the road and replace with two layers of asphalt,” Taheri said.
The project is made possible through the state’s annual Highway Maintenance Fund.
Several projects will be completed this year using money from the state fund, including downtown Fort Payne, downtown Fyffe, Collinsville and Rainsville.
Taheri said the resurfacing would take place one lane at a time, and drivers should be cautious while traveling through the construction area.
“It’s going to be very hectic,” Taheri said. “We are asking drivers to be patient and observant during the work.”
Taheri said workers have 30 working days to complete the resurfacing in Rainsville.
“It really needs to be done,” Taheri said. “It will greatly benefit people who travel through the area when it’s completed.”
