• Craig Bodiford, 37, of Rainsville, charged with one count of first-degree possession of marijuana. He remained in jail Tuesday afternoon without bond.
Sheriff Jimmy Harris said the arrests came following an investigation into alleged thefts and burglaries that took place in the area throughout the past few months that mainly targeted off-road vehicles such as four wheelers. He said it is believed these thefts extended into Tennessee and Georgia.
Harris said Bodiford was arrested after an investigation into one of the alleged thefts turned up a “large amount” of marijuana.
“The individuals involved in these thefts are all familiar with each other,” Harris said. “It appears that different members of this group participated in some of the thefts but not all of them.”
