An Albertville teen drowned at Lake Guntersville on Sunday.

Marshall County Coroner Cody Nugent confirmed the body of the drowned man as Martin Sebastian, 17, of Albertville.

Nugent said the drowning was accidental. He said Sebastian was at the beach area of Lake Guntersville State Park and swam into the deeper part of the water, which was approximately eight-feet deep. He said several bystanders tried to assist Sebastian, but they weren’t able to save him.

He said the Guntersville Rescue Squad, Guntersville Fire Department and the Lake Guntersville Park Rangers assisted in the recovery.

“It was such an unfortunate accident,” Nugent said. “Marshall County Coroner’s Office would like to offer our thoughts and prayers to the family.”
