DeKalb County supports its farmers

The DeKalb County Commission presented the DeKalb County VFW Farmers Market board members with a $2,000 check last week for this year’s farmers market season. Farmers market manager Grady Dalton is pictured above, with other board members receiving the donation check from DeKalb County Commission President Ricky Harcrow.

At the opening day of the market, Dalton said there were at least 10 vendors and that number will increase as the season progresses.

Dalton said the variety of homegrown goods will also increase as the summer days pass by.

“When it gets to be late June and July, there will be growers set up all over this place,” Dalton said. “But we’ve done pretty good for opening day.”

If you are a producer in DeKalb County and would like to sell your goods at the DeKalb Farmers Market at the VFW Fairgrounds on Tuesdays and Fridays at 3 p.m., you must get a permit from the DeKalb County Cooperative Extension Services Office.
