Former Ider town clerk Pamela Thompson Harris plead guilty Monday to fraudulent use of a credit card.
Ider Police Chief Buddy Crabtree was the arresting officer when Harris was arrested in August of 2017 after what Crabtree previously said was a “lengthy investigation” into the town’s bookkeeping.
According to the 2017 arrest report, Harris was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, theft of property and forgery first. As part of Harris’ plea agreement, the previous charges of illegal credit card possession and first-degree theft were dismissed Monday.
Monday’s plea agreement stated that Harris signed a guilty plea to fraudulent use of a credit card in violation of Al Code 13A-9-14 in count 1, whereupon the state recommended Harris be incarceration in the state penitentiary for 24 months suspended and placed on 24 months probation.
