Criminal breaking into car window.

An arrest by the Rainsville Police Department last Wednesday morning resulted in multiple charges.

After receiving a call of a suspicious vehicle, officers investigated the gold Chevrolet Silverado and arrested the driver, William Paul Poe, 32, of Rainsville, after finding several stolen items from the front porch of a residence and a vehicle burglary.

Poe was arrested for unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle, theft of property third, felon in possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of prescription drugs, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI and criminal trespass first.

Poe was transported to the Rainsville City Jail without incident and later booked at the DeKalb County Detention Center. Rainsville Police Chief Kevin Smith said the stolen property was returned to the owner.

“I want to commend the patrol division of the Rainsville Police Department for their quick response and fantastic work on this case,” Smith said.
