Birmingham – Select winners of the 2019 Alabama Press Association Media Awards were announced by Dee Ann Campbell, chairman of the AMA Contest Committee. This year, 90 publications submitted 3,394 entries in the annual contest. The Illinois Press Association membership judged the entries.

The awards will be presented on Saturday, June 29 at the 2019 APA Summer Convention at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, AL.

The Fort Payne Times-Journal received second place for Best Sports News In-Depth Coverage for “Paul Ellis resigns” by Cody Dowler.

Advertising Contest Winners

The Fort Payne Times-Journal won first place for Best Single Ad 1/2 page and under black and white for for “City of Fort Payne” by Tricia Dunne and Andi Williams.

The Fort Payne Times-Journal won first place for Best Single Ad over 1/2 page color for Best One Time Special Section - Newsprint or Glossy for “Lander's McLarty” by Gretta Machen, Derek Jackson.

The Fort Payne Times-Journal won second place for “Visitors Travel Guide” by staff.

The Fort Payne Times-Journal won first place for Best Classified Display Ad for The Fort Payne Times-Journal for “Southern Properties” by Derek Jackson.
