Winston Place Bed and Breakfast will host a meet and greet for state Board of Education Seat 8 candidate Rich McAdams.

The event will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the bed and breakfast located at 353 Railroad Ave. in Valley Head.

McAdams said in a release that over the past nine months he had spoken to people in District 8 and “everyone shares one common concern,” which is the “quality of public education.”

“From parents to teachers, administrators to legislators, businesspeople to concerned citizens; the message is clear — we want the best educational opportunities for our children,” McAdams said. “We want our education system to better prepare those students going directly into the workforce for 21st century jobs.

“We want our education system to better prepare those students going on to higher education so that far less remediation is required at the university level.”

McAdams said that as a graduate and longtime advocate of Alabama public schools he is committed to improving teaching and learning for all students.

McAdams will run in the Republican primary election on June 5, and if he wins will run in the general election Nov. 6.
