Collinsville Public Library is proud to present its fourth annual 5K Challenge on June 8 at Historic Main Street Collinsville.
The race was formerly known as the Turkey Trot 5K Challenge, and the annual event is a test of a runner’s endurance up Halls Gap Road. Collinsville Public Library Director Jennifer Wilkins said all proceeds from the run will benefit the Collinsville Public Library.
“This event is our primary fundraiser for our library,” Wilkins said.
Wilkins said the 5K Challenge features 600 feet of elevation gain and is professionally timed by PinPoint Timing.
According to Wilkins, the process of the run has been enjoyable for all who work to organize it and for those who participate in it. Wilkins said there will be prizes for the top three finishers in each age group.
She also said some of the funds from this year’s run will be used to make some major changes to their children’s department of the library.
Wilkins said on-site registration and check-in will begin at 7 a.m. outside of the Collinsville Public Library, following registration the race starts at 8 a.m.
Wilkins said registration is $25, and participants may register online at runsignup.com. Wilkins said to get to the correct internet page, search for Hallin’ up the Gap. Visit Hallin’ UP the Gap 5K Challenge on Facebook for links and additional information.
