Splash pad open for summer

The Splash Pad located in the Alabama Walking Park in downtown Fort Payne opened last Saturday for the 2019 season.

Robin Brothers, CPRP Fort Payne Parks, and Recreation Director said, “We are very excited for another great summer at our splash pad.”

“We would like to remind everyone of our inclement weather policy. The splash pad will close in the event of inclement weather,” Brothers said.

According to Brothers, for the quick passing storms, the splash pad will re-open 30 minutes after the last time thunder or lightning is heard or seen.

“For those lingering showers and storms like we had last Saturday, our staff will monitor the weather and make the decision based on current conditions and the daily forecast,” Brothers said.

Operating hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. until Memorial Day.

Hours from Memorial Day to August 7 are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Following the Splash Pad regulations, children ages 12 and under must be under the supervision of an adult at all times. All persons using the splash pad do so at their own risk.

For updates on the Splash Pad, Brothers encourages everyone to follow Fort Payne Parks & Recreation on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
