A fatality has been reported in Rainsville after a single vehicle accident Wednesday night.

The Rainsville Police Department was dispatched to County Road 505 at approximately 5:52 p.m. where one victim was found deceased, Rainsville Police Chief Kevin Smith said.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s office, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Rainsville Fire and Rescue and Blake Community Fire and Rescue responded, as well.

A passerby stopped and performed CPR on the victim but left before officers arrived at the scene. Now, the police are asking to speak to the person that stopped.

“We ask if anyone knows who this person is to please contact the Rainsville Police Department at 256-638-2157 or in person,” Smith said. “This person is a possible witness of the crash and could have pertinent information that will aid in the investigation of this crash. If anyone saw this crash, please contact the Rainsville Police Department, also.”

Smith said the case is still under investigation and no more information can be released at this time.
