Burglar drives into business

The Fort Payne Police Department reports that Chevrolet pickup truck drove into Kilgore Pharmacy over the weekend.

On February 9, at approximately 4:40 am, an alarm call came into the Fort Payne Police Department about a possible break-in at Kilgore Express Pharmacy at 103 Greenhill Blvd NW.

Lt. Matt Wilson, Lt. Matt Jones, Sgt. Rafael Cruz and Patrolman Carl White responded to the call and found a dark-colored Chevrolet pickup had run through the front doors of the pharmacy.

While officers were on the scene, the suspect in the truck began backing out of the building and proceeding north on Gault Avenue.

Officers performed a felony stop on the vehicle and ordered the driver to step out of the vehicle. Jeffery Allen Nunn, age 37 of Remlap, Alabama, exited the vehicle without incident but several brands of pills on his person. The pills were identified as 33 Oxycodone, 475 Lorazepam, 256 Tramadol and 21 Promethazine. The on-call investigator charged Nunn with Burglary 3rd, Theft of Property 2nd, and Criminal Mischief 2nd.

The owner of the pharmacy, Lotha Kilgore, stated damages to the front doors would be $2500.00, and the value of the pills stolen would be $1000.00.

The investigation continues and more charges may be pending for Nunn.
