The Christian Ladies of Collinsville have invited all women to join them at the annual ladies retreat Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. at the Collinsville Community Center.

Elaine Hufstetler, CLC member, said the ladies retreat features a different speaker each year. She said this year’s inspirational speaker is a local woman.

“Our speaker this year is Karmen Smith,” Hufstetler said. “She lives in Fort Payne where she and her husband have a business. Some of our ladies have heard her and they say she is really good.”

Smith, the author of the journal “When You Pray Big Things Happen,” inspired the name of this year’s ladies retreat, “Prayer Changes Things.” Hufstetler said there is no admission fee for the ladies retreat and that there will be a free lunch provided by Crit & Puck’s Catering.

“There will be an upscale yard sale with treasures available for dedicated shoppers,” she said. “If these items are sold, it helps to pay for our food because we don’t have any charge on our food.”

Hufstetler said through the years the ladies retreat has seen both local women and women from neighboring states.

“It is for any female who wants to come,” she said. “We’ve had them come from Georgina and different places. We see a lot of the same people every year because they enjoy it so much, but we do see some new ones each year.”

Hufstetler said the CLC encourages newcomers to experience the ladies retreat.

“Come and meet with a group of ladies that know Jesus Christ as their personal savior,” she said. “I think they would really enjoy it.”
