The Big Wills Arts Council is pleased to announce the upcoming, “Christmas in Dixie: A Yuletide arts and Crafts Festival” starting Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Dec.9 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Fort Payne Coal & Iron Building located at 501 Gault Ave. N., in Fort Payne.

After last summer’s successful arts fair, “The Sunflower Exhibition” held during Third Saturday Cruise-In in August, the BWAC has sought opportunities to assist emerging artists and craftsmen.

This event is one such opportunity for artists to present their work for sale and for the public to have an opportunity to “shop local” for unique, Yuletide-themed items that are handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces of work.

More than 20 artists working in various disciplines and media will be presenting work from paintings, needlework, ceramics, jewelry and more.

Entertainment will be provided by Terry Hutchenson, local singer/songwriter.

The project has been initiated by Donna Chesser, BWAC board member, along with local artist Ann Hamilton and arts patron Lisa Murphy as an opportunity to partner and work with the city of Fort Payne’s event coordinator Victoria Elton and Main Street Fort Payne’s executive director, Tim Harris.

The Big Wills Arts Council invites everyone to drop by the Coal & Iron Building and get into the Holiday Spirit.
