The Collinsville Public Library, located at 151 Main Street in Collinsville, has one of the most up to date collections of DVDs for our patrons’ enjoyment in the county. We have a large selection of family DVDs, animated DVDs and TV series DVDs.

Patrons are also welcome to use our computers, a selection of iMacs and HPs. We have a sizeable selection of popular Christian Fiction, as well as our regular fiction and non-fiction collection.

We have a Book Club that meets every other Wednesday in our meeting room to read and discuss not only the newest releases, but favorite and classic selections. Everyone is welcome.

On Monday and Wednesday, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., classes are available for ESL studies in Spanish, with a certified instructor and some activities for the children.

Regular library hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays.

We have just received a shipment of new children’s books (Easy fiction) of our children’s reading area. Here is a sample of the new books available:

“Alfie” (The Turtle That Disappeared)

by Thyra, Heder – The reader gets both sides of the story in this clever take of a lost pet and the search for the perfect birthday gift.

“All the Way to Havana”

by Margarita Engle – In this beautifully illustrated book, a family drives to Havana , Cuba, in their well-worn car, experiencing the sights and sounds of the streets.

“The Boy and the Whale” by Mordicai Gerstein – A young boy faces a moral choice when a whale gets caught in the family fishing net.

“King and Kayla and the Case of the Missing Dog Treats” by Dori Hillestad Butler – King, the dog, and Kayla, his human, solve the mystery of the missing dog treats and make some interesting discoveries along the way.

“Life on Mars” by Jon Agee - In this sly, well-paced story, a young space explorer, certain there is life on Mars, sets out to prove it.

“Walk with Me” by Jairo Buitrago – A young girl shows great courage as she takes on adult tasks and waits for her mother to come home from the factory.

And many more. All of these new books are national and regional award winning stories.

The Collinsville Public Library also has a large second floor function room available for events of all kinds. It will accommodate 90 people, with chairs and tables provided, a kitchen and elevator. For more information on the library’s resources, please call 256-524-2323.
