Auburn University Living Democracy Fellow Hannah White will spend her summer working in Collinsville with Jennifer Wilkins and the Collinsville Public Library on a variety of projects.

White, a political science major from Madison, is excited for the summer. “I think this will be a fantastic opportunity to learn more about a small town and how beneficial they are to our country,” White said.

White said she hopes to grow the annual summer reading program, increase the number of registered voters in Collinsville and work on bringing speakers to town. “Voting is an essential part of being American, and I’d love to help the citizens of Collinsville register and be able to use that right in the next election,” White explained.

White, the daughter of Sean and Teresa White, will be in Collinsville from May 20 until July 29. She can be contacted at hew0029@auburn.edu or by stopping by the Collinsville library and asking for her.

Living Democracy is a program of Auburn University’s College of Liberal Arts. Students serve as Jean O’Connor Snyder Interns with the David Mathews Center for Civic Life. For more information, visit http://www.cla.auburn.edu/livingdemocracy/.
