Idol contestants play UFO Days

Brandi Clayton

The 14th annual Fyffe UFO Day Festival is Aug. 25 at Fyffe Town Park, with music beginning at 10 a.m.

Fyffe Town Clerk Brandi Clayton has been in charge of organizing the event for a decade now, and this year her committee has a music lineup including Bucky Covington and Brandon Elder who were both on the reality television, singing competition American Idol.

Covington will be the headliner for the event and will take the stage at 8 p.m., Clayton said.

Covington was on the fifth season of American Idol and placed eighth.

“We also have Brandon Elder, who was on Americal Idol last March,” Clayton said. “He was cut during the Hollywood week.”

This music lineup throughout the day includes Leah Seawright, Still kickiN, the Underwood Family and Country Case, just to name a few.

“Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on because we don’t have stadium seats or anything it is an open area” Clayton said.

The splash pad and playground will be open for the children to play, Clayton said.

In addition to music and vendors, there will be antique cars and tractors at the festival.

The antique tractors have been at UFO Day in the past; however, Clayton said this year they are making it one of their big events of the year.

“There is a club, like with the antique cars, and they have shows, and they travel even up to Lynchburg, Tennessee and carry their tractors,” Clayton said. “They are beautiful antique pieces. You can tell there is a lot of pride that goes into restoring and preserving the equipment.”
