Carrie Green Evans, the owner of Maggie Mae’s, a new clothing and furniture consignment store in downtown Fort Payne, loves this area. Carrie is from Birmingham, but has lived all over, including Camden, South Carolina, Selma, Savannah, Georgia, Los Angeles, California, and Trussville.

But, of all the places she’s lived, she settled here in beautiful Fort Payne. She is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design and has been a professional graphic designer since 1999.

In addition to her new retail venture, Carrie continues to provide other businesses with graphic design services.

About 10 years ago, Carrie met Fort Payne native, Whit Evans.

Whit and Carrie fell in love, married, and Whit moved to Birmingham, where Carrie was living at the time. Once their beautiful 4-year-old daughter, Maggie, whom they named after Carrie’s mother, joined them, moving closer to family became a priority.

Visiting Fort Payne several times a month to spend time with Whit’s family and having always loved this area, they decided to move their party of three to Fort Payne. Carrie was always pulled toward owning her own children’s clothing store, probably because her Mama owned a children’s clothing boutique in the 80s. So, Carrie took a chance and opened Maggie Mae’s.

Maggie Mae’s officially opened in December of 2017, on Gault Avenue next door to The Spot, both as a brick-and-mortar location and online store.

Although Maggie Mae’s specializes in new and gently loved children’s clothing, she also carries clothing in all sizes from Newborn to Adult, plus some antiques, home goods and accessories. Maggie Mae’s also offers embroidery and cut vinyl designs in addition to any graphic design work you may need. While not everything in the store is on the website, maggiemaesclothing.com, a large selection of the baby and children clothes are.

You can order, pay online and have items shipped, or pick up in the store. I would suggest visiting her shop, it’s really cute.

Maggie Mae’s is open Tues. through Fri. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sat. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be sure and stay in the loop on new merchandise and promotions by following them on Facebook and Instagram (maggiemaesclothing).

Join us Sat., May 17 at 4:30 p.m., for a Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting, welcoming Maggie Mae’s to Fort Payne. Maggie Mae’s is located at 103 Gault Ave. N. Fort Payne.
