Fire department inspects new electric buses

First responders become familiar with city school's newest fleet addition

Members of the Fort Payne Fire Department recently familiarized themselves with one of Fort Payne’s two all-electric buses. Tony Myers of the Fort Payne City Schools bus garage brought the bus by the fire hall for training on the technology. The electric buses are distinguished from the rest of the fleet by blue bumpers. It is important for first responders to know what they are dealing with in the event of a traffic accident since the undercarriage of the electric buses contain high-voltage rechargeable batteries and connected power systems.
