Fort Payne Main Street debuts 2021 farmers market, hosts 'Touch a Truck' event

The Fort Payne Main Street farmers market located on the corner of 5th and Gault Ave N. across from the Coal & Iron building enjoyed a big crowd last weekend as the group hosted a 'Touch a Truck' event on opening weekend. This hands-on experience gave children and families a way to experience and ask first responders questions about vehicles such as a fire truck, ambulance, etc. The lineup included one of Fort Payne’s new 100% electric school buses, which are a first in the state of Alabama. At the market, farmers from all over DeKalb County set up and provide fresh produce, jams and jellies, local honey as well as a variety of baked goods. The Farmers Market operates from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday and 3-6 p.m. on Mondays between June and October.
