Groat receives Scott Bateman Memorial Scholarship

Maggie Groat, senior at Fort Payne High School, was awarded the Scott Bateman Memorial Scholarship this week.

Bateman was a member of the Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce for many years and served on the board of directors for 10 years. He was a ‘community leader, church leader, awesome husband and dad with a true servants heart.’

The scholarship was presented by Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jennifer McCurdy, with the help of Scott’s daughter, Kelly Koch, and on behalf of Bateman’s widow Vickie Bateman and son Chris Bateman.
