Fort Payne Fire Department honored for International Firefighters’ Day

The Hannah White Arnett Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution honored four fire stations in Fort Payne, AL for International Firefighters Day on Tuesday in support of the job they do for the community and to say, “Thank You.” May 4 is the feast day of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters.

Goody bags were given to 39 firefighters with items donated by Soft Touch Hosiery and an anonymous hosiery mill, firetruck art provided by some of Lindy Vizzinia’s kindergarten classes at Wills Valley Elementary School and donations from members of the HWA Chapter. Mayor Brian Baine presented a proclamation from the city of Fort Payne.
