Bill Holleman went to live with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, May 25, 2019. He was 74.
Bill was born in Warner Robin, GA and grew up in Valley Head, AL. He was a spirited young man who loved cars and football. Bill was Captain of the Valley Head Tigers where he was classified as the best linebacker in the county. He graduated from Valley Head High School in 1963 and furthered his education at Auburn University becoming an alumni in 1968. Bill never lost his love for football, but due to many sustained injuries Bill shifted his focus from football to cars.
Bill briefly worked with his mother and father at their family business, the Fort Payne Laundry and Dry Cleaners, before becoming an accomplished automobile wholesaler who bought and sold cars throughout the United States. He was co-owner of Crencor Leasing and Sells for 20 years in Nashville, TN. Bill had a very successful career in the Auto industry spanning over 50 years.
Bill loved his family and treasured spending quality time with them. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. Bill’s favorite past time was tinkering with toys, big and small. He restored and collected vintage cars and motorcycles and has an antique toy collection like no other.
Bill’s passion was people; he never passed up an opportunity to stop and visit with someone. He Loved his morning coffee gatherings and his Tuesday morning Bible study. His bigger-than-life personality and amazing sense of humor combined with his kind, caring, and generous heart made him a one-of-a-kind treasure.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladola Cannon and Erskin Thomas Holleman. He is survived by his wife, Becky Holleman of Fort Payne, his daughters Amy (Michael) Helmes and Abby (Eric) Ward, his granddaughter, Faith Helmes, and his grandsons Will Helmes, Holleman Ward, and Phelps Ward.
The family will receive friends at the Valley Head Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m on Friday, May 31st. The funeral will follow visitation at 4:00 p.m. with brother Kevin McCreless officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley Head Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Adams, John David Burleson, David Gilbreth, Newt Harrelson, John Holleman, Billy Livezey, Terry Locklear, and Waylon Miller.
While the family will accept flowers, Bill requested that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to Saint Judes Children’s Hospital.
