Mary Annette Thornberry Chappell, 62, of Fort Payne, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019. She was born December 28, 1956 to the late Earl Clarence and Otha McElhaney Thornberry. Annette was an active member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She sold Mary Kay for many years. While in high school, Annette met Lendell Chappell and they were sweethearts for 3-1/2 years before marrying.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Wilborn and Rev. Brian Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home and Thursday from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service at Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Lendell Chappell; children, Michelle Chappell, Valerie Chappell Logan, Shannon Chappell, and Justin Blansit; grandson, Aiden Logan; sister, Ozell Thornberry; brothers, Clarence Thornberry and wife, Betty, and Steve Thornberry and wife, Joannie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Thornberry and her parents.
