Harold Wayne “Skinny” Parker, 88, of Fort Payne, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021.
He was born March 17, 1933 in Fort Payne to Jessie Ward Parker and Minnie Nappier Parker. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Second Baptist Church.
He began his career with Fort Payne Police Department in 1961 and 10 years later moved to Chief Investigator before being promoted to Assistant Chief in 1981 where he served until his retirement in 1995.
During his career, he was named Alabama Outstanding Young Peace Officer. He was a founding member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 37 where he actively served for 50 years, both as secretary and treasurer for 38 years, as well as serving as a State Trustee for 42 years.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Partain and Mitchell Dendy officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
He is survived by his daughter Audrey Humphreys and husband Frank; son Shane Parker and wife Mary Ann; grandchildren Michael Lewis, Brittany Parker (Austin Archey), and Ryan Parker; and great-grandchildren Sara and Ava Lewis, Nolan and Rylee Ann Parker, and Jaxson Archey.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sarah Grace Parker in 2014.
