Windell Brown of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 17th in the hospice care of Tranquility at Cobb. He was 79. He was born on January 15th, 1940, in Fort Payne, Alabama to Robert and Estel Brown. He married Nelda Jones on 12/23/1959. In 1961, they had their only child, Sonya. In 1966 Windell and his family moved from Fort Payne to Lithia Springs, Georgia. Windell became a highly respected man in his community, where he managed a successful grading business for over 40 years. He was a faithful member of Union
Grove Baptist Church of Lithia Springs.
Windell spent his time working to provide for his wife and daughter and nurturing a loving home for them. He and Nelda loved spending their time outdoors working in their beautiful yard. They also loved treating their three grandchildren whenever they got the chance, and taking trips to see their family in Alabama.
Windell is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Nelda; daughter Sonya Vineyard; sister Alpharine (Raymond) Lusk; brother Larry Brown; grandsons Caleb (Kristen) Vineyard, Micah Vineyard, and Luke Vineyard; great-grandson Brodie Vineyard. Windell was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kerry.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at noon at Hightower Memorial Chapel in Douglasville with Rev. Ken Hennessy officiating.
The family will greet friends at Hightower from 10 A.M. to the time of the service.
Internment will take place at Walker’s Chapel in Fort Payne, Alabama, at 3 P.M. CST.
