With the announcement of headlining acts earlier this week, we are officially in Boom Days mode here in Fort Payne and at the Times-Journal.

In the past, the T-J has tried to highlight different aspects of the three-day event in addition to all of its performers. We’ve been amazed at how much it has grown.

Last year’s Boom Days festival was one for the books. It was one of largest events the city has seen in recent history, and that success can be credited to Boom Days Chairman Maurey Roberts, the Boom Days Committee and countless volunteer efforts. Roberts has poured his life into making this event a success, and his efforts have been recognized at the state level. It would be hard to beat last year’s Boom Days, but the announcement of this year’s acts, specifically Neal McCoy, could definitely do just that.

We’re excited to watch as everything plays out over the next few months leading up to the event, and the T-J will be there along the way to provide readers with exclusive coverage.

Our View is the opinion of the Times-Journal’s editorial board, which includes Publisher Tricia Clinton-Dunne and Managing Editor Bradley Roberts.
