The logging ordinance issue is one that was drawn out for months in the city of Fort Payne before the council came to a resolution in April.

A significant part of that ordinance, though, is its enforcement. What good is an ordinance without someone to make sure that there are no violators?

The council took a step toward that process by securing a forester to make sure these loggers keep in line with the ordinance during their meeting Tuesday.

It’s an important step and one we applaud the council in making.
