Proclamation recognizes contributions of women

"In recognition of the contributions made by women to the cultural, political, economical and social life of our city," Mayor Fred Purdy proclaimed June 7 as a day of recognition for the endeavor. It is also on that date that a traveling exhibition Faces and Voices of Alabama Women will premier in Fort Payne at the old High School Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Alabama women will be spotlighted in the show. The show is jointly sponsored by the Alabama Committee on the Humanities and Public Policy and the Alabama International Women's Year Committee.
