Class 5A opponents are proving to be no problem for Plainview’s girls.

The 3A Lady Bears pulled off a doubles sweep Monday and edged host Albertville 5-4 in high school tennis.

Plainview (4-0) is now 3-0 against 5A teams this season, having also defeated Boaz and Scottsboro.

Taylor Pack and Casey Miller won 10-7 at No. 1. Madison Johnson and Cassidy Hood prevailed 10-3 at No. 2, and Abigail Hampton and Avery Holt were 10-3 winners at No. 3.

Hampton (11-9 at No. 4) and Hood (10-10, 7-3 at No. 5) claimed singles wins.

SATURDAY: Plainview downed Faith Christian 7-2 on Saturday in a Class 1A-3A, Section 4 showdown at Northeast Alabama Community College.

Pack (8-8, 7-2 at No. 1), Miller (8-0 at No. 2), Hampton (8-0 at No. 4), Hood (8-4 at No. 5) and Holt (8-0 at No. 6) picked up singles wins.

Hampton and Holt prevailed 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.


Albertville downed the Plainview boys 8-1 on Monday. Nathan Pierson took the No. 1 singles match 10-1 for the Bears (0-3).

Faith Christian edged Plainview 5-4 in 1A-3A, Section 4 action Saturday.

Pierson (8-4 at No. 1), Tyler Blevins (8-0 at No. 2) and Kyle Coots (8-0 at No. 3) claimed singles wins for Plainview. Pierson and Blevins took the No. 1 doubles match 8-3.
