Fort Payne has 8 qualify for state meet

The Fort Payne wrestling team had eight qualify for this week’s AHSAA State Wrestling Tournament after the AHSAA North Super Section Tournament in Birmingham this weekend.

The Wildcats placed fourth overall at the sectional meet.

David Miguel (106 pounds) and Cole Blalock (120) finished the sectional meet as champions.

Taylor Roe (132) and Riley Kuhn (220) had third-place finishes and Arturo Rodriguez (145) had a fourth-place finish.

Fort Payne begins state tournament competition at Von Braun Center in Huntsville on Thursday.
