Fort Payne 8-under All-Stars headed to State Tournament

For the first time ever, a Fort Payne 8-under All-Star team has qualified to compete with the best teams in the state at the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association State Tournament in Gadsden.

Fort Payne will be one of 17 teams in the tournament.

The team has earned victories over teams from Scottsboro, Boaz, Huntsville and Arab to make history for the Fort Payne youth basketball program.

Fort Payne needs four more wins to be crowned as 8-under state champions.

The young All-Stars will take the court on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Gadsden Boys & Girls Club Gymnasium against a team from Montgomery.

If the team wins their opening-round matchup with Montgomery, they will play again at 7:45 p.m. for a spot in Sunday’s semifinals.

If the team advances to the semifinals, they will play on Sunday at 9 a.m. for a chance to advance to the State Championship Game at 12:30 p.m.
