SELMA (AP) — Another small college in Alabama is shutting down its football program.

Board members at Concordia College announced their decision to end the sport on Tuesday.

A spokeswoman says the price of travel, equipment and other expenses became too much of a financial stress on the small, historically black college.

The roughly 80 scholarship football players have a chance to finish out their college career on scholarship as long as they maintain the minimum required grade point average.

The decision comes just weeks after Stillman College in Tuscaloosa decided to shut down football and other sports beside basketball.
